Become a Fearless Transcriptionist - Transcribe Anything!

Some transcriptionist always fear.  They fear to go outside of their comfort zones.  Thankfully, not me!

Once I've learnt transcribing and got more passionate about freelancing and making money from home with my transcription skills, I've become fearless.

As a transcriptionist, I first started in the legal transcription niche. After proofing my skills and competence for this niche (to myself and to others) within two years, I started with surveyor/real estate transcription.

Now, as a freelance transcriptionist you don't really have a choice when it comes to your niche in freelance.  So, I did business, and even medical transcription!

Actually, I just completed an audio file and sent it back to the transcription company.  If they are happy with my work they'll have more work for me in the coming two weeks or so.

Now, the owner of the transcription company contacted me about this work Friday last.  It was Bridie who recommended me to the owner and so proving the power of online connections and authenticity.  Thanks to Bridie I now might earn some extra money from home.

Takeaway Points:

  • Make friends online and keep it real.
  • Prove yourself first
  • Keep pushing the envelope - stretch your limitations

The Secret Skill You Need to Become a Successful Freelance Transcriber

To be a successful transcriber you don't need to be the best transcriber.  What you need to be is, the best-selling transcriber!

Selling is the only skill you need to become a successful freelance transcriber.  This is also true for transcribers working for a company.

If you have the skills of negotiation, salesmanship and marketing, you will get better benefits, faster pay raises, better positions.

Successful freelance transcribers know this. They know where to get free publicity.  They know where to advertise and how.  They know how to communicate effectively with others; especially with their prospects and speak their language.

I'm sometimes amazed at how very skilled transcribers are only moderately successful or happy in their jobs.  Some transcribers don't mind giving a 3-hour overtime every week in office; but spending 1-hour a week on their own business is unthinkable to the same transcribers.  That is unthinkable to me.

So start selling.
